Step 2: Now, install VMware on your Windows PC but don’t run it. It is a severe warning, and you’ve been warned.

Step 3: Now, you have to download the VMware unlocker patch tool. You can use this link to download the unlocker for VMware.

Step 4: After downloading, extract the patch tool and locate the win-install file. Once you find that, right-click on it and run it as administrator.

Note – This is a crucial step as VMware does not support the installation of macOS on the virtual machine. Therefore, the installation of macOS is not possible without installing the patch. This VMware unlocker patch removes the restrictions of VMware.

  • Now, it is time to download macOS. You can download any macOS version of your choice, but here I am installing macOS Sierra. You can download macOS Sierra from this link.

  • After that, click on Create a New Virtual Machine.
  • A New Virtual Machine Wizard will open, and it will ask you to select the type of configuration you want. Simply select Typical (Recommended) and click on the Next button.
  • The next page will ask the installation from, and here you have to select I will install the operating system later option and then click on the Next button.
  • On the next page, you will be asked for the Guest operating system, and here you have to select Apple Mac OS X, and for the version, you have to choose macOS 10.12.
  • After that, you have to select the installation location, and then you have to specify the disk space you want to allocate for this virtual machine. After doing that, your machine will be ready to install macOS. Close the VMware and reopen it.
  • Now, it is time to configure the virtual machine that we created in the last step. To do that, simply select the machine that you’ve created and click on Edit virtual machine setting.
  • Here, you can configure many things, such as RAM, Processor, Disk Space, etc. However, we will only customize the CD/DVD option.
  • Go to the CD/DVD (SATA) option and select the use ISO image file option and click on the Browse button. Here you have to locate the macOS ISO file that we have downloaded earlier, and after selecting the file, open that and save settings and close the VMware again.
  • Now, we have to add a configuration key in the VMX file, and for that, you have to open the folder where you have set up your virtual machine.
  • Here, you have to find the VMX file. It will be named something like macOS Sierra.vmx. After locating the file, right-click on it and open it with Notepad.
  • You have to scroll down this Notepad file until the end, and there you have to add this command line as it is smc.version=” 0” and save and close the file. After this step, everything will be done, and our macOS Sierra virtual machine will be ready to run.
  • After that, you have to open VMware Workstation again, and this time, you have to select Play Virtual Machine.
